Casio's Flagship Privia

Enjoy an authentic grand piano experience with Casio's Privia PX-870. Casio's multi-dimensional AiR processing provides true-to-life piano sounds, while 88 full-size scaled hammer action keys with simulated ebony and ivory textures ensure realistic playability. Besides a great-sounding four-layer stereo grand piano, the PX-870 comes with 19 additional tones to add dimension to your playing. And everything will sound larger than life, thanks to this digital piano's 40-watt, four-speaker Sound Projection system. Teachers will appreciate Casio's Duet Mode, which allows two people to play the same notes simultaneously. And along with a stylish modern design including a sliding key cover, music stand, and three-pedal board, the Privia PX-870 will look great in any setting.

Realistic piano sound with AiR

To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the Privia PX-870 features Casio's proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamic levels of sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

Sound Projection system fills the room with sound

At Sweetwater, we're impressed by the acoustics of the Privia PX-870, thanks to its Sound Projection system. This powerful 40-watt, 4-speaker system fills the room with rich, detailed sound. Best of all, the sound radiates from various places on the PX-870's cabinet, much like a traditional grand piano. Beyond that, you'll enjoy a balanced sound across the entire frequency range, at any listening volume, by virtue of this digital piano's Volume Sync EQ.

Scaled hammer action provides authentic piano feel

You'll deliver an expressive performance, thanks to the Privia PX-870's Tri-Sensor II Scaled Hammer Action piano keys, which are accurately scaled across the entire key range. Beyond that, simulated ebony and ivory textures provide an authentic touch. The PX-870's touch sensitivity is adjustable, allowing you to tailor it to your playing style, while its customizable hammer response accurately reproduces the delay between when a key is struck and a note is produced.

MY GREATES GIFT (THE PIANO)

my neice just love this piano so much she really play on it just about all day long, i think it like haveing a new car. she just loves this piano so much. thank you for being so helpful and kind. THANK YOU. DEAN
Music background: i can play the radio. but i still have a hard time at that. NO MUSICAL TALENT AT ALL.

Great Sound but Noisy Keys

In general, I really enjoy playing this digital piano. It arrived in almost perfect condition (more to follow) and the assembly was straight forward.

However, a handful of keys are noisy to hit. If all the keys were a bit noisy, it wouldn't be a problem but the fact only some are noisy interrupts the flow of playing for me.

An Affordable Electric Piano Choice

For the money, the Privia Px-870 is a strong possibility for the beginner/intermediate student. It has
very spartan controls, lacks a status screen and buttons to operate the 2 track recorder. The attack and
sustain of each note is somewhat lacking, and adjustments are difficult and tedious. The sampling of
the stored tones is somewhat lacking as well. It is definitely the budget model. I think in a year or
so I will have to move on to the Yamaha Clavinova. I recommend the prospective buyer to search YouTube
for videos on this model, especially the video showing how to assemble the 85 pound package you will receive.
The instructions are totally inferior, and the lack of a user's manual for the... price tag is
greatly unprofessional and lamentable to the extreme. Casio : Get your act together. Nuff Said.

Noisy Keys, broken headphone output, uneven volume across the keys

It's a nice looking piece of furniture and the self construction was pretty straighforward. Even out of the box, some of keys are bit noisy when pressed. After about 2/3 months of light use, more and more keys sounds loose and plasticy. Some keys are now making an additional clicking noise when fully pressed (like some felt has moved or worn away). For reference, I used to have a nice Kawaii CA-17 for years and never had any problem like this.

The sound is generally very nice. However, the lower C's (1 and 2 octaves below middle C) create a loud, boomy resonance when played through the speakers. However, this might be due to my room configuration so this one isn't fully conclusive yet.

Lastly - I hadn't used the headphone output since new but I tried the other day and it's broken. I.e. it's not earthed properly and will only create a proper output if 'fiddled' with.

All in all, I'm very unsatisfied for the price

Many of the keyboardists here at Sweetwater have fond memories of Casio that go all the way back to when we first started playing, and that's often kept us coming back for decades. Today, we're happy to point players to Casio keyboards, no matter how long they've been playing - even if they've never played at all. In fact, we've set up many beginners with Casio LK series Lighted-key models, and they've regularly raved about how easy these keyboards make learning. Likewise, several of the solo performers at Sweetwater swear by their fully loaded Privia and other advanced lines, which provide top-notch accompaniment and more. And if you stop by the Sweetwater Piano Showroom, we'll be happy to show you the latest Casio home piano - all providing amazing value and style.
